Deja Brew
About This Spot
Stepping into Deja Brew feels like sliding into a warm, familiar rhythm. Tucked along Edgewood Avenue in New Haven, this cozy café offers a pace that invites quiet moments and easy conversations alike. The subtle hum of friendly chatter blends with the rich aromas swirling from the espresso machine, crafting a laid-back atmosphere that feels both comforting and intentionally unpretentious.
The space is modest but thoughtfully arranged, with a mix of indoor nooks and outdoor seats perfect for soaking up a bit of sun or enjoying the changing seasons. It’s the kind of spot where baristas greet you with genuine warmth, setting the tone before you even glance at the menu.
Here, breakfast isn’t an afterthought—it’s a quietly celebrated ritual. Whether you savor a handmade sandwich where each bite balances fresh, quality ingredients or take a slow sip of their house-specialty lattes, the flavors feel like they’ve been crafted with care rather than haste. Seasonal touches, like a gently spiced Pumpkin Iced Coffee, mingle naturally alongside savory breakfast staples, inviting patrons to linger just a little longer.
Deja Brew’s charm lies in its unassuming authenticity. Pastries come fresh and flaky, coffees come rich and warming, and the chat between neighbors feels as effortless as the morning light spilling through the windows. It’s a local haven where the everyday act of grabbing a cup or a quick meal can feel unexpectedly genuine and quietly nurturing.

Stopped here for a quick lunch. Really cute place! I got the Edgewood sandwich - very good! Also got fresh made carrot cake and a pumpkin iced coffee. Would definitely stop here again when I’m back in town.

The perfect breakfast sandwich with the correct ratio of bread to sausage/egg/cheese! Fresh tasting, delicious, quality ingredients for only $5!!!! Super friendly staff, nice atmosphere inside. Great selection of coffee and tea. Best decision I've made all week.

I live in the area and stop in from time to time to grab pastries and coffee or lunch. I love their pastries. Ended up with a croissant that had just come out of the oven! Hands down one of the best I've ever had. All the workers are really nice and it's a cute little shop with nice indoor and outdoor seating when the weather is nice.

Great little place. Coffee was very good (although I ordered a lot of flavor in it so I could t really judge the actual coffee). The pistachio cake was maybe one of the best pieces of cake I can remember. And the chicken salad sandwich was excellent, on very fresh white bread.

Nice cozy cafè with outdoor seating with strict social distancing rules. Ordered a “The Hearty” breakfast sandwich along with other pastries and coffee for a reasonable price. Customer service was good. Coffee was too bitter and had a Burnt taste to it, had to request more milk in order to help it taste better. Other than that, I would come back again and would recommend getting food and good treats here.

We love Deja Brew! Best cafe on this side of town! The kitchen is so good - such a diverse menu and everything we had was delicious. Service is quick. And the coffee and pastries were amazing.

A really cute little shop. Old style Latin vibes, really pretty interior decor, similar to the Pistachio cafe everyone raves about. Although in my opinion this place is better simply because the workers there are very friendly, and welcoming unlike Pistachio's. I was charmed as soon as she said "hello". They have a lot to offer at a good price from a variety of different coffee, tea, smoothies, sandwiches, wraps, cakes, cookies, muffins, etc etc. I ordered the Emerald Elixir ($6 and some change) which was AWESOME. I have a sweet tooth and I love anything that's green apple flavored so I already knew I'd love it. It's a blend of fruits and veggies, pretty healthy with no food coloring or anything like that. It has a rich green hue as suggested by the name. I highly recommend that to you as well as a visit to Deja Brew, dear reader.
